Authors

Using the work of a particular author to inspire interest in both literature and art is a wonderful way to inspire children to think beyond simply reading or listening to a book - and as such using authors as teaching themes is a wonderful way to plan lessons, particularly in the preschool classroom. For instance, the varied work of Eric Carle might inspire caterpillar and butterfly crafts, and collage art work. But this is not just the domain of preschool - elementary school children will enjoy making works art or crafts inspired by their reading. Think for instance of the vast variety of projects that could be done to support reading of Mary Pop Osbourne’s magic tree house books.
